5th Annual Student and Staff Art Show Opens this Week.
Published on Monday, April 06, 2009
WHAT: A student and staff art show, open to the public, featuring works in visual media such as painting, drawing, graphic art, sculpture, and digital art. Works displayed will be available for sale, with a percentage of the proceeds going to fund a student artist toolship. Art donated by established artists will be for sale at greatly reduced prices. Admission to the show is free.
WHY: The Cape Tech community of students and adults has many talented artists, some of whom have already received local and regional recognition, and some unknowns whose work definitely deserves to be seen. The student work especially displays a compositional daring and freedom not ordinarily found in works by older artists.
The Art Committee is seeking to not only provide all Cape Tech artists with a measure of recognition, but also to give the public an opportunity to acquire high quality works of art for very reasonable prices.
Also, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the artwork will fund a scholarship or toolship for a talented student artist.
WHEN: Thursday, April 9 through Thursday, April 16. Opening reception on Thursday, April 9 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Admission is free and refreshments will be provided. Thereafter, the show will be open for public viewing weekdays from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM or by appointment. Admission to the reception is free.
