    SUMMER CAMP 2018

     
     
    Week 1, July 9-13, 8:30-12:00
     
     
    Graphic Arts - FULL
    Students will be working with the Adobe Creative Suite to learn how to be creativing in a digital world. Editing photos in Photoshop, creating digital illustrations in Illustrator, designing a magazine cover in InDesign, creating a movie trailer are just a few of the projects you will be working on. Learn what it takes to be a professional Graphic Designer.
     
    Art
    Paper Mache MadnessLet’s go wild with newspaper and glue and anything else we can find. Perhaps you’ll make a dragon or a crazy creature head. In this camp you will learn how to use paper mache to create anything you can dream up. We will start off with simple forms and ideas to learn technique and get inspired. All projects will be painted and brought home. All Material provided. Please bring a snack and an oversized button down shirt to use as a smock.
     
    Cosmetology - FULL
    Interested in pursuing a career in Beauty & Fashion? You will learn all about manicuring, beauty, hair and make-up treatments.
     
    Culinary - FULL
    Learn the basics of cooking and baking in our commercial kitchen from a trained chef instructor.
     
    Technology/Coding
    Join Mr. Rocque, IT teacher from Cape Cod Tech in an exploration of scientific computing.  We will look at computers, networks, high performance computing clusters, big data, machine learning and the coding language scientific python, known as scipy.  Each day there will be some lecture, some lab, and an outdoor activity that helps us experience and understand key concepts.  At the end of the week you will have the tools you need to begin exploring the wealth of resources the Internet holds for new scientists.  This program is designed for all students, no previous experience in coding is required.  Seating is limited to 12 so sign up early. 
     
    Basketball
    The camp is designed to bring a strong basketball fundamental program to the young student athletes from the district, as well as introducing Crusader Basketball. We are pleased that it will be staffed with volunteers from the existing varsity programs as well as the coaches. It is a five day camp that will be suited for beginners as well as seasoned athletes. The program will stress the importance of conditioning, fundamentals and have a scrimmage every day. We look forward to meeting you and having you be part of our team.
     
    Babysitting (M-TH)
    In this fun summer camp course you will discuss child safety, first aid & emergencies, feeding & nutrition, discipline, stages of development, entertainment, and the business of babysitting. A 4-H Babysitting manual is provided.  Certificates and I.D. cards will be awarded upon successful completion of the course.  (Please note that the first week is Monday to Thursday)
     
    Marine Technology FULL
    Outboard engine safety, inspection and maintenance.  This summer camp course is a great opportunity to learn about marine safety and outboard engine repair.

    Print making

    In this camp we will learn a few different ways of printmaking. Explore your own ideas and have fun learning a variety of printmaking methods including monotype, simple collage, stencil, and Linoleum cuts. Experimentation is part of printmaking and is encouraged. You'll be amazed how many works you can produce and how varied they can be. All materials are non-toxic.

    All materials provided. Please bring water, a snack and wear clothes that you don’t care about. Please bring an oversized button down shirt to use as a smock. You will get dirty.

    Girls In The Trades
    Are you a middle school girl who likes to work with your hands?  Have you ever wondered what it’s like to build a house, wire an electrical circuit or pipe a plumbing project?  Maybe you’ve even considered working in construction as a future career choice? If so, this is the camp for you!  This week is designed to present a hands-on overview of the construction trades including Carpentry, Electrical, HVAC and Plumbing.  Meeting women who work in the trades and going on a field trip to a construction site are also planned. Can you build it? Yes, you can!

    Football
    Cape Tech will be hosting a one week football camp. This camp will be focused on providing positional techniques to all players. Specifics will be route running, man coverage, ball skills, as well as pass rush and pass protection. We will incorporate a fun competition of skills in the area of skill players and lineman. The week will end with 7 on 7 competitions in which players will have the opportunity to play several positions and show their skills.
     
    Babysitting
