Welcome to the Nurse's Office.

The School Nurse is a professional who makes sure that every student has access to emotional and physical health services throughout the school day. They work with teachers, counselors and parents/guardians on behalf of their patients, to create care plans when needed, including medication management.

The role and responsibilities of the school nurse at Cape Cod Regional Technical High School includes keeping children healthy and safe in preparation for learning.  Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Health assessment and treatment according to practice standards of care
  • Triage injuries and provide first aid care
  • Administer medications according to physician orders and parent/guardian consent (see medication authorization link)
  • Annual screenings in accordance with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts regulations
  • Coordinate care by communicating between the family and healthcare providers, teachers and counselors
  • Develop health plans for students with chronic illness and disabilities
  • Educate students and staff on health habits, proper nutrition and hygiene
  • Track student vaccination records
  • Update student medical history
  • Ensure school environment is safe for students and school staff (e.g. prevention of communicable disease)
