Using electrical codes as guidance, electrical students learn the correct installation of various wiring schemes used in all types of construction. The electrical program provides students with a broad range of experiences covering many new technologies in power, communication, energy conservation, audio/media, security, fire safety, and lighting. Theory classes conform to state standards allowing students to earn class-time hours required by the state to become a licensed electrician. The program works with Cape Cod Community College to help develop initiatives using high tech energy management systems as well as renewable energy projects. The program recently installed a new photovoltaic system for the horticulture retail center and has plans to add similar systems in the school. The students also assisted in the installation of a small wind generator on campus, a first for Cape Cod and our school. Qualified students participate in a strong cooperative work program with many employers in the area. Many students retain their employment in the electrical field upon graduation.
